COURSE OVERVIEW

The NAFA Junior Art programme offers short-term art courses for children aged 5 to 16 years old during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling and printmaking to manga drawing.

Students will make clay crafts, draw and paint space scenes and create 3D robots. Come join us and explore the world of art and adventure.

Students will explore the history of paper dolls and draw inspiration to design various outfits for them. They will also plan and decorate the interior of a 2D dollhouse.

Students will paint on huge canvases with acrylic paints and learn about colour theory and basic painting techniques.

Students will create a glow-in-the-dark canvas painting, printed tote bag and mixed media art pieces inspired by famous artists.

Pokémon Factory (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn clay modelling, canvas painting and drawing skills to produce artworks of cute Pokémon characters and bring home their art creations.

Students will learn clay modelling, canvas painting and drawing skills to produce artworks of cute Japanese characters and bring home their Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Kuromi creations.

Origami Pop-Up Book (9 – 12 years old)
Students will learn the intricate folds of origami sculptures paper and paper mechanics. They will create a pop-up book with a symphony of colours and surprises where characters learn from the pages and come “alive”.

Hello, Little Artist (5 – 7 years old)
Students will explore the works of three Artists—James Rizzi, Romero Britto and Andy Warho. They will learn the basic colour theory, pattern creation and simple self-portrait drawing with canvas painting and collage creation.

Fabric Art (5 – 7 years old)
Students will explore various techniques and materials on different fabrics. They will learn how to create and design wall-hanging art, self-portrait fabric collages on canvas, and animal fabric-wrapped sculpture art.

Inspired by Picasso (7 – 10 years old)
Students will be inspired by the famous artist, Pablo Picasso, and your child’s imagination will be unleashed in this fun workshop. They are free to explore the elements of art and put their creative ideas on canvas, boxes and different materials to create interesting and functional 2D and 3D art pieces.

Fun 3D Art (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn to transform their 2D ideas into 3D art pieces with the methods of constructing and modelling with assorted materials to form a playable art, soft plushie and wire mobile art.

My Family and I – Fun with Portraits (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn about portrait drawings and facial features to create an expressive canvas painting of their own family, a self-portrait and a decorative photo frame for a family photo.

Sensory Play and Experimental Art (9 – 12 years old)
Students will learn acrylic pouring bear art, sensory play bottle art, squishy gel wax casting, slime craft and more.

Miniature Art Museum (9 – 12 years old)
Students will create a Miniature Art Museum showcasing mini paintings and 3D artworks inspired by famous artists.

Vibrant Expression of Soft Pastels (11 – 16 years old)
Students will explore soft pastels and create an artwork with landscapes, animals, flowers or an interior scene. Each session will focus on different techniques such as blending, layering and highlighting to achieve stunning visual outcomes on black paper.

Magic Paintbrush Playground (5 – 7 years old)
Students will bring their favourite tales to live on canvas and experiment with oil pastels and watercolour resist. There will be different activities each day for students to explore creatively through different mediums and fun painting techniques.

Little Cartoonist Studio (6 – 8 years old)
Students will learn the basics of creating cartoon characters, including drawing techniques and crafting methods. By the end of the workshop, they can create their unique cartoon characters using various materials.

Students will create a clay photo frame and Faux Snow Globe using Christmas theme painting.

Creative Fun Sculptor (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn the basic motor skills of clay making using modelling clay, exploring different themes, and experiencing the indulgence of 2D and 3D craftwork.

Imagine, Doodle and Draw (7 – 10 years old)
Students will transfer their creative ideas onto canvas and create different textures and surfaces using mixed art techniques.

Students will create their cool collection through experimental drawings on canvas and a functional 3D work using i-clay and assorted materials.

ClayPlay Pokemon Christmas (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn clay modelling to create the Pokémon figures using the Christmas theme and bring home their clay creations.

ClayPlay Kawaii (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn clay modelling to produce artworks of cute Japanese characters, such as Hello Kitty, Totoro, and Doraemon and bring home their clay creations.

Shaping Your Ceramics (9 – 12 years old)
Students will experience ceramics hand-building techniques and design, and glaze their personalised holder to transform clay into a creatively functional artwork.

Students will learn to draw and paint using various techniques and styles of manga, mecha, chibi, and anime.

Landscape in Water-mixable Oil Paints (13 – 16 years old)
Students will learn colour mixing and various oil painting techniques to create two landscape paintings using solvent-free oil paints.

Van Gogh Inspired Art (5 – 7 years old)
Students will create artworks inspired by Vincent Van Gogh using mainly acrylic paint and plasticine. They will learn colour mixing, blending, and how to create texture using plasticine. They will also create 3D artworks, combining the techniques.

Sparkly Christmas (5 – 7 years old)
Students will learn to make Christmas crafts, including festive painting, musical boxes, and designing snowflake ornaments ideal for Christmas trees.

Students will create their collection of functional glows in the dark monsters on canvas, box and carrier for Christmas.

Christmas Mosaic Art (7 – 10 years old)
Students will love this fun-filled Christmas workshop where they will learn to create their expressive mosaic art pieces and ornaments with mosaic tiles, lego brick and various materials.

Students will learn clay modelling, canvas painting and drawing skills to produce artworks of POP Mart characters and bring home their art creations.

Students will learn the art of scrapbooking and the skills of binding books to create photo albums and art journals.

Refund of Fees

 
Fees are only refundable under the following conditions:

  1. Full refund if the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances.
  2. If withdrawal is made within 14 days before the commencement of the programme, an administrative charge of S$50 (before prevailing GST) will be deducted.
  3. Fees are non-refundable for withdrawal after the class commence*

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

These are short Art courses for children 5 to 16 years old. No prior art knowledge is required.

HOW TO APPLY

There are two enrolments per year:

  • In May, for the end May/June.
  • In October, for end November/December.
All applicants will register online. Do note that registering online does not guarantee a place as most of the courses are usually over-subscribed.

Successful applicants will be notified via email. Upon receiving results of your successful application, please proceed to make prompt payment to secure the class allocated otherwise the seat will be automatically released.

You will be prompted to complete the payment process via email.

Enrolment Steps
  1. Enrol online in October 2024.
  2. Please click here to "Apply" to enrol.
  3. Fill in details as required.
  4. You will receive an email acknowledgement for completed application.
  5. Payment notification will be sent to the registered email within 24 hours.
  6. Make FULL payment at our payment portal upon receipt of the payment notification to confirm enrolment.
  7. Registration will close for a course that is fully subscribed.

Enrolment Period
22 October 2024, 10am till 27 October 2024, 5pm.

FAQ

Twice a year, in May and October.
Register in May for courses commencing in May/June.

All applicants will register online. Registering online does not guarantee a place as most of the art courses are usually oversubscribed. Successful applicants will be notified via email and SMS on fee payment and class allocation. Please note that the successful application is only secured with fee payment (you will be prompted to complete the required payment within 48 hrs).

7 – 14 students

A teaching assistant is assigned to all classes for children less than 9 years old.

Parents need to inform us about their child’s learning needs upon registration. Children with learning needs will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Our classes are held in a large group setting; hence we are unable to accommodate or admit children who require one-to-one supervision during lessons.

The NAFA Junior Art offer short-term art courses for students 5 to 16 years old during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling and printmaking to manga drawing.

Our classes are held at NAFA Campus 1, 80 Bencoolen Street.

Please bring an apron, a light jacket and a water bottle. Course fee for vacation courses is inclusive of all art materials.

There is no replacement class for a lesson missed.

The student will be awarded with the Certificate of Participation at the last day of lesson.
